Jim Ross Blogs: HHH-’Taker, ‘Sunny’, Austin-RAW, JBL
Jim Ross has a new blog entry up at http://www.JRSBARBQ.com/ Here are the highlights…
On HHH vs. Taker: Thought the cold open to the show featuring Undertaker/HHH was on the money and edited well. WWE TV folks do a marvelous job with their video features. IMO the Taker-HHH match could efficiently be promoted via video packages of the two future WWE HOF’ers greatest moments in WWE. Taker vs. The Game is now a No Holds Barred match at WM27 which differentiates it from the last two ‘Streak’ matches w/ HBK…good move in my estimation. HBK’s comments in the ‘sit down’ environment are effective. Love Shawn Michaels’ perspective of the upcoming WM27 main event. Being a Johnny Cash fan, I enjoy hearing his music being utilized for Taker’s current entrance theme as it gives the presentation a different feel specifically for this upcoming Wrestlemania.
Sunny: Congrats to Sunny on being named to the 2011 WWE HOF class. She really started it all with the risqué, Diva personification and portrayed a very effective ‘bad girl.’ One might say that the forecast for Atlanta the first weekend of April are for ‘Sunny days.’
On Steve Austin: The Dallas/WWE fans definitely came to see Stone Cold Steve Austin. Although Austin did not have that much to say nor did he overstay his welcome by any stretch, Austin stole the show Monday night and seemed to be having a great time interacting with the fans and even the cameramen. Austin’s fans long ago made a strong emotional bond with the Texas Rattlesnake that will seemingly last forever. @steveaustinBSR, on Twitter, can still command an audience as good as any WWE performer today or any previous generation.
On JBL: It was great seeing JBL surprise us by returning to Raw for, I assume, a cameo. John Layfield looks great , is doing wonderfully well in business and enjoying life after wrestling. I don’t expect JBL to rejoin the traveling troupe any time soon.

Jim Ross Blogs: ‘Snooki’ to RAW, NXT, Mike Knox, more
Jim Ross’s latest blog is online at http://www.JRSBARBQ.com/ Here are some of the highlights:
On the Watts library: “The WWE does not own the UWF/Watts library but have tried to buy it on multiple occasions. I hope WWE does obtain it some day but I’m WAY out of that loop. If you want to own a piece of wrestling history you can visit the UWF website, which is ran by Bill Watts’ ex-wife and his kids @ http://www.universalwrestling.com. They do a nice job in packaging the library which has some of the best episodic, weekly, one hour TV shows ever produced in the pro wrestling genre. Yes…I’m biased but I’m not alone in that opinion.”
On Mike Knox: “A Twitter follower asked me about former WWE grappler Mike Knox. I always liked Knox and felt like he had ‘something.’ I’m not sure why he was released. I haven’t heard any thing about Mike in a long while but hope that he’s healthy and happy. Nice guy with solid athleticism which is a commodity for such a big guy.”
On Snooki: “Lots of old school wrestling fans are squealing like a pig stuck under a gate w/ the announcement that Jersey Shore’s Snooki will be the guest host of an upcoming Monday Night Raw. Obviously, WWE is simply trying to get her appearance noticed in outside media outlets which is timely with WM27 getting closer. It’s a PR move folks so I wouldn’t make any more of it than that. Snooki’s time on MNR likely will be of the ‘cup of coffee’ variety but will also get TMZ-like exposure that reaches non wrestling fans.”
On WWE NXT Season Five: “The new season of NXT starts this week. I hear that some changes will be made for the presentation that is on http://www.wwe.com on Tuesday nights. I liked the last ‘class’ of NXT rookies especially Johnny Curtis and Brodus Clay. Clay has the size and look of a ‘killer villain’ and he’s impressed me, as have others, in FCW.”

Jim Ross Blogs: Cyborg to WWE rumor, Mistico, Spoilers
Jim Ross has a new blog entry up at http://www.JRSBARBQ.com/ Here are the highlights..
On Cyborg Santos To WWE: Is Cris Cyborg leaving MMA/Strikeforce to migrate to WWE? Beats the hell out of me just as she would if she chose to but it is an interesting internet rumor. Seeing more athletic, hard hitting women compete in WWE is intriguing for me as a fan. Cris Cyborg is arguably the baddest women on the planet but she would need to learn better English and the art form of pro wrestling or she would run out of opposition in WWE just as she has seemingly done in MMA. Cyborg would be huge draw on a WWE event in Brazil, for example, or so I think.
On Mistico’s Name Change: The Mistico name is owned by the wrestling promotion CMLL in Mexico City which is why the athletes formerly known as Mistico is now known as Sin Cara. I expect Sin Cara to debut after WM27 so as to not get lost in the Wrestlemania shuffle so to speak. Right now it’s all about WM27 and not about introducing new people. Makes sense to me.
On Spoilers: IF I knew TV surprises why would I share them? I generally don’t know the surprises that I see on Raw, for example, and if I did I damn sure wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise for others. Am I wrong here?

Jim Ross Blogs: Trish's return, Del Rio's push, Morrison
Jim Ross has a new blog entry posted at http://www.JRSBARBQ.com/ Here are the highlights…
On Alberto Del Rio: Alberto Del Rio is evolving nicely. Love his cross arm breaker finisher. Del Rio gets into his finishing maneuver very cleverly. I’m buying Alberto Del Rio and feel that he will have a successful outing at WM27.
On The Smackdown Elimination Chamber: The Smackdown Elimination Chamber match was big league. One of the best PPV bouts I’ve seen in a long time especially one involving multiple participants. It earned a FULL bottle of sauce rating.
On Trish Stratus: Another Canadian import made her return as well as Trish Stratus had an enhanced , surprise cameo on the PPV. The brunette Trish is just as lovely as the blond Trish. Good to hear that she’s going to be a Tough Enough trainer. I’m watching.
On John Morrison: Big night for John Morrison. Morrison’s efforts were akin to some memorable, break out performances athletes have made in, particularly, Royal Rumble bouts of the past. Wasn’t sure if Morrison was being referred to as parkour or hardcore or both but he’s a spectacular athlete who positively distinguished himself Sunday night. Morrison maximized his minutes in the Elimination Chamber.
On CM Punk: It sounded like there were lots of cheers for CM Punk. Was it fans being defiant, fans who simply like the villains, or fans who appreciate Punk’s skill level? What ever the reason, Punk felt like a star inside the Raw Elimination Chamber.

Jim Ross Blogs...again: SD! going Live, TNA, WWE PPV
Jim Ross has posted yet another new blog (he’s on a roll this weekend!). Here are the highlights…
On Smackdown Going Live: No…I don’t ever see Friday Night Smackdown going live, full time IE weekly. It might happen occasionally but it isn’t cost effective or travel friendly to do live TV on Mondays, Fridays, and some Sundays and still try to do live event touring. Makes no sense.
On The WWE All Star Video game: Yes…all the perceived top, current WWE superstars are playable characters in the new, WWE All Star video game which will be released soon. While doing the voice over play by play for the new game it brought to mind how many different scenarios one could play especially with ‘Dream Matches’ that never occurred. I am extremely optimistic that this game will be a hit.
On Sunday’s PPV: I’m anxiously looking forward to Sunday’s Elimination Chamber PPV from WWE that emanates from Oakland. Obviously, and based on precedent, the Chamber bouts will occupy the majority of the ring time on this event but my focus is on the King vs. Miz bout for the WWE Title. Miz will likely see every trick in the wrestler’s handbook in this one and I don’t expect this title bout to be a marathon. It can’t be a marathon bout if The King Jerry Lawler wants to win the WWE Title IMO. The 61 year old WWE HOF’er, who buried his 90 year old mother on Wednesday, needs to essentially tell us what time it is and not how to make the watch when Jerry looks to make history. Not only would Jerry be the oldest WWE Champion ever, or so I think, he would also be in rarefied air as a WWE Hall of Famer who wins the title after being inducted into the WWE HOF.
On TNA Wrestling: An emailer asked me what I thought about recent TNA storylines involving Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jarrett and their children. I’m not a regular viewer of TNA first of all but what I have seen of this storyline that’s allegedly based in reality isn’t my cup of tea. I could care less what the adults do in their storyline but having minor children involved doesn’t personally work for me. TNA isn’t my hill to die upon and I harbor no ill will toward them but I find it challenging to believe that some individuals actually think that this is effective, episodic TV. Lastly, I’m sure that no one at TNA cares what I think, nor should they, but I’m merely addressing a question from one of our regular emailers. However, as Pink Floyd sang “Leave them kids alone.”

Jim Ross Blogs: Lawler vs. Miz, Y2J-WWE, Taz, & more!
Jim Ross has finished a new blog over at http://www.JRSBARBQ.com, where he once again discusses a variety of topics.
On Chris Jericho’s First WWE Run: “Chris was very close to being shown the exit during his initial WWE tenure which would not have bode well for yours truly who pushed harder than anyone to sign the then underutilized WCW talent. Jerry Brisco and I met with Chris on a ‘recruiting trip’ in the Tampa area at a place called the Bombay Bicycle Club for lunch and that meeting helped move our negotiations along. Jericho was a great ‘get’ for WWE and made my department look good with the inking of his contract.”
On Taz’s Finishing Dojo: “For you wrestlers who have some experience but want to get to the next level before your personal expiration date arrives then check out http://www.teamtaz13.com. Taz is training wrestlers with experience and his website has all the info. All I can say is that Taz is a natural born coach, Taz will not hose any student out of their hard earned cash, and every wrestler that attends Taz’ ‘finishing school’ will be better prepared than they ever dreamed of becoming to perhaps go from the Indies to full time work.”
On The Miz vs Jerry Lawler at Elimination Chamber: “Any one who thinks that it’s simply not possible for Jerry Lawler, at age 61 and on a week where he buried his 90 year old mother, to win the WWE title against the Miz this Sunday at the Elimination Chamber needs to rethink their position. It is possible and it damn well could happen. I agree that the King is the underdog going in but what a story for the ages it would make if the WWE HOF’er did win the title. I’m not saying bet the farm on it but IF Jerry Lawler were to somehow, by hook or crook, defeat the Miz Sunday it would be one of the hottest topics around the WWE water cooler in years. I admit that I legitimately have an emotional investment in this one because of my friendship with Jerry and after seeing first hand what he went through this week. ”

JR Blogs: The Rock's future, Lawler's title match, Y2J
Jim Ross has posted his latest blog entry. Check out the highlights:
On attending the funeral of Jerry Lawler’s mother: “I enjoyed my short visit with Jerry Lawler, his family and friends in Memphis this week as Jerry’s 90 year old mother, Hazel, was laid to rest on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Lawler was a truly wonderful lady who was full of life and personality. I stayed at King’s house on Tuesday night and we sat outside and visited for hours until finally calling it a day about 2 a.m. Laughter was no stranger to the two of us even under the circumstances of the visit.”
On Jerry Lawler’s WWE Title Match at Elimination Chamber: “Jerry is genuinely excited about being in the main event of a WWE PPV which will be this Sunday in Oakland at the Elimination Chamber vs. the Miz for the WWE Title. I would not miss this PPV for the world because I believe that shocks and surprises from WWE will abound over the next few weeks leading into WM27 and no one can argue that Jerry Lawler upsetting Miz to win the WWE title wouldn’t be a HUGE shocker.”
On his upcoming appearances: “Confirmed this week that I will be appearing on Saturday May 7 at the Legends of the Ring function in Monroe, N.J. at the Crowne Plaza hotel.”
On the WWE All Stars game: “The new, THQ produced WWE All Star Video game is getting more and more play as the anticipation builds to it’s release the Tuesday of WM27 week. There will be a tie in with JR’s Family BBQ on this exciting new game so please watch for details.”
On whether we will see Rock wrestle at Wrestlemania 27: “Emailers…of which there have many many…Why is it that so many people think that it’s going to be Rock vs. Cena at WM27 in a wrestling match? Rock has said publically that his in ring wrestling days are history. End of story. It was made clear Monday night that Rock was going to HOST Wrestlemania. Is it possible to see some sort of physical interaction in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome between ‘the Great One’ and Cena? Of course, any thing is possible….except Rock wrestling in an official match but that doesn’t mean that the potential for physicality doesn’t exist.”
On Chris Jericho’s new autobiography and media appearances: “Chris Jericho is pounding the pavement promoting his new book ‘Undisputed’ which I finished last week and now my wife is reading. She’s enjoying it too and, as I mentioned last week, I STRONGLY urge you to buy Chris’ latest but only if you want a candid, honest look behind the scenes at the challenging, frustrating albeit rewarding and crazy life of a big time WWE star. Chris was really good on ‘Red Eye’ and on my wife’s favorite, The Wendy Williams Show this week.”
On his WWE Axxess schedule: “My WM27 Axxess appearances at this time are Friday night at the THQ function which, I think ,starts about 8 pm, Saturday morning from 10-noon with the King at the WWE HOF booth, and Sunday at noon for a Q&A.”

Ex-WWE Diva Maria comments on future in wrestling!
Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis posted a blog on her Facebook account responding to those who feel she is not passionate about the wrestling industry because she no longer wrestles.
I want to make a comment about the wrestling world because a lot of people are saying that I’m not passionate about wrestling because I am not still trying to wrestle.
I was completely in love with wrestling and would have done it for the rest of my life if it had a retirement/family plan and fulfilled me creatively. I got into wrestling at 22. I never experienced anything except wrestling. Problem now is my niece is getting older and older. Watching her grow up made me figure out that someday being on the road 250/300 days a year isn’t gonna work. I did not want to get out of wrestling at 35-40 and then have to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. Also, I love acting and the 1-5 minutes on TV was no longer enough for me. I miss the fans and I still plan on coming back someday to the wrestling world. But I need to try things, experience things, and see what I really enjoy. I’m going to a Wrestling show on saturday because I miss that world.
For now though I am going to really find me. Spending time with friends and family, going to classes, a perfume line, yoga, a web series, a play, a movie, and more music until I know me. I don’t do drugs and I’m not a drinker so I can not drown my loneliness out. I have to face my life. I have to find where I belong. Maybe it is wrestling but I think it would have been unfair for me to stay when I was so confused and jaded. Now, IF/When I go back it will be for the right reasons. Passion is what drives me and that is why I still think about the amazing feeling of being on the top rope ready to jump. The fans drove me to jump and now I need to learn to jump on my own.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and who knows what the future will bring. Spanks and Kisses!!
