Rey Mysterio At WWE Elimination Chamber PPV?
9/21/2011
How to tell the Sin Cara's apart!
The new Sin Cara (Hunico) was the second Sin Cara to come out on RAW Monday night. You can tell the two apart because the original Sin Cara (Mistico) has the blonde hair sticking out from under his mask while the new Sin Cara has a scar on his stomach.
One of the reasons WWE is doing a Cara vs. Cara feud is because Rey Mysterio is out with an injury and they want do something big around Lucha masks for WrestleMania 28 next year in Miami. As noted in the past, WWE has expressed interest in breaking the Guinness World Record for the most masks in one place, and are looking to do it at WrestleMania.

Who came up with ‘Little Jimmy’?, Mysterio
– R-Truth did a recent interview with Charlotte Magazine and revealed that the “Little Jimmy” phrase was the idea of Vince McMahon. Truth also told the magazine that he ad-libs 90% of his promos and that he’s still working on a hip-hop mixtape.
– In keeping with the storyline from Monday’s RAW where WWE temporarily wrote Rey Mysterio off TV with the Alberto Del Rio injury angle, Mysterio commented on Twitter today. Rey wrote that he was injured on Monday by Del Rio and was at the doctors getting an MRI done. Rey said he won’t know the results of the MRI until next week.
As noted before, Rey actually had a legit MRI done on his knee last week and the latest word is that he will miss time away from the ring but won’t be going in for surgery as he’s chosen to go through more rehab instead.
Rey Mysterio's injury update, Sin Cara's WWE future
– Rey Mysterio’s injury angle on RAW was done to give him time off to deal with his knee injury. Mysterio got an MRI done yesterday and the results should be back in about a week. The hope is that he can avoid surgery and just rehab the injury, which would mean a shorter time on the shelf.
– There has been no discussion about the future of the original Sin Cara at this week’s TV tapings. Hunico worked as Cara at last night’s taping.

Rey Mysterio in rough shape & Laurinaitis plans scrapped
– Rey Mysterio had an MRI done over the weekend but as of yesterday, did not have the results back. Rey is reportedly very worried as it’s the same knee that he has had several surgeries on. We should know more later this week.
– Vince McMahon reportedly does not want John Laurinaitis to have a speaking role on WWE TV anymore as he feels Laurinaitis can’t cut a good promo.
Rey Mysterio injury update, SummerSlam card
– WWE confirmed on RAW tonight that Rey Mysterio will get his WWE Title shot against either CM Punk or John Cena on next Monday’s post-SummerSlam show from his hometown of San Diego, California. This was the big Rey Mysterio-SummerSlam angle we talked about several weeks ago.
No word yet if the match will still take place after Rey was attacked by The Miz before their match this week in an injury angle. Rey reportedly tweaked his knee at a WWE live event this past weekend.
– Here is the updated WWE SummerSlam card:
* For the Undisputed WWE Title: CM Punk © vs. John Cena © w/Triple H as Special Referee
* No Holds Barred World Title Match: Christian © vs. Randy Orton
* WWE Divas Title Match: Kelly Kelly © vs. Beth Phoenix
* Sheamus vs. Mark Henry

Injury updates on Rey Mysterio & Dolph Ziggler
We noted yesterday that both Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler are currently battling injuries.
Ziggler suffered a abdominal muscle at Friday’s RAW live event in Salt Lake City, Utah. The same night, Mysterio suffering a knee injury, leading to the early stoppage of a bout with Alberto Del Rio. He limped to the back afterward.
Mysterio participated in an injury angle at last night’s RAW live event in Fresno, California as he was attacked by Alberto Del Rio and R-Truth prior to his match with the second generation Mexican wrestler. Del Rio put the cross arm-breaker on Mysterio, and was subsequently assisted to the back by personnel. Meanwhile, Ziggler worked lightly during his match against Alex Riley as there was much stalling.
Both wrestlers are expected to work around their respective injuries and rest up as much as they can this week in Los Angeles leading into next Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event.

Videos: CM Punk invades WWE at Comic-Con!
CM Punk crashed the joint Mattel/WWE panel—WWE: Past, Present and Future—this afternoon at the San Diego Comic-Con, featuring Triple H, Rey Mysterio and WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart.
Punk announced himself via bullhorn and then, with the WWE Championship in hand, sauntered to the designated question-asking microphone and began to speak. The Straight Edge Superstar took exception to WWE attempting to crown a new champion on RAW and then challenged Mysterio, or anyone else who wanted to be champ, to head out to Chicago to take him on.
Punk then asked Triple H and creative writer Brian Gewirtz why Zack Ryder wasn’t on television. Triple H, in what appeared to be a kayfabe response, told Punk that things had changed on Raw and there was a new regime. He told Punk to give him a call. Punk responded by telling Hunter that he was certain Stephanie had his phone number. You can check out a few videos of this below.

Report: WWE Talents jealous of Sin Cara?
Source: The Pro Wrestling Torch
Rumors recently surfaced online indicating that Rey Mysterio asked World Wrestling Entertainment officials to release him from his contract following WrestleMania XXVII. Mysterio, however, shot down the rumors on his Twitter account, saying he did not ask to be released and that he will be around for a while. According to a source, Mysterio did in fact have a ‘blow-up’ with WWE management back in February.
Former WCW star Konnan, a longtime friend of Mysterio, told a source that the assumption that the SmackDown! star is bothered by the recent signing of Mexican sensation Sin Cara is way off. He said Mysterio isn’t the type to be jealous. Rather, he welcomes new talent as potential rivals or teammates.
It would appear that Mysterio and Sin Cara will be kept on opposite WWE brands for the time being as the newcomer is slated to initially work RAW live events. As noted earlier here on the website, he made his first appearance inside a WWE ring at last night’s RAW house show in Assembly Hall in Champaign, Illinois, defeating WWE Superstars fixture Primo.
Meanwhile, Alberto Del Rio was asked to comment on WWE signing Sin Cara during an interview published earlier this week on latino.foxnews.com. While the article says he is “pleased” to hear WWE sign a fellow countryman, he doesn’t acknowledge Sin Cara in particular. He instead says that he’s happy WWE is using a number of Latino wrestlers, before turning the subject back to himself.
“I’m just happy this company uses so many Latino talent,” Del Rio said. “There is so much talent out there, from Puerto Rico to Mexico, just to name a few. I hope it continues like that. Because of that, I am here and getting all these opportunities.”
According to another backstage source, the claim of Del Rio being “pleased” about Sin Cara joining WWE is contrary to a behind the scenes story they’ve heard. We’ll have more on that shortly.

Backstage Injury Updates – Mysterio & Sheffield
– Actress Jennifer Hudson recently did an interview with USA Today and noted the following regarding her real-life relationship with WWE star David Otunga yet: “Not yet! I’m engaged. Everything is all ready to go. Originally I wanted the biggest, grandest wedding in the world. Now I don’t know.”
– Rey Mysterio has been receiving cartilage injections in his knee to help him work through an injury that will eventually require surgery. So far, Mysterio has received between 8 and 12 of these shots and says he’ll likely get several more following WrestleMania 27.
– Former WWE NXT and Nexus star Skip Sheffield underwent a second surgery to repair a trapped nerve in his injured leg about two months ago. Sheffield is now off crutches and continues to rehab the leg. No word on his return date.

Cody Rhodes Speaks Out: Rey/’Mania, Father’s Ego, More
Cody Rhodes recently spoke with SLAM! Wrestling, here are the highlights…
On Facing Rey At WrestleMania: “I’m not one for false promises, exaggeration or hyperbole. In sports entertainment, you hear a lot of those. But I really believe this match has potential to steal the show. We’re stacked up against some beautiful matches and this is my hometown so that would be an added bonus. It’s our best superstars. I wouldn’t feel comfortable without having a quality story. I used to think I should be on Mania, but looking back, no, I shouldn’t have been. I wasn’t ready.”
On His Father’s Vide Of WrestleMania: “I was talking to my dad (Wednesday night) and he had some advice about the Super Bowl, Wrestlemania and other major sporting events … he said they were just another game. I don’t agree with that. It’s not just another game. If someone is whispering in your ear that this is the biggest event in sports entertainment history, you move faster, you jump higher. You’re trying to give fans something they’ll remember forever.”
On His Ability: “I was an awesome amateur wrestler, no pun intended for The Miz. I would do stand-up drills in the shower every morning. I did the stadiums, waking up at 5 in the morning. I was on a low-cal diet before I was 18. One of my least favorite things that’s accepted on the internet is the level of technical wrestling ability of some. I would tie Daniel Bryan up in knots in 15 minutes.”
Did His Father Inspire Him?: “With no disrespect to him, I speak to him on a regular basis, but I’ve always tried to get my inspiration from other sources. I’m not helping anybody by being Dusty Rhodes Jr. That would just be reminding people what they saw years ago. One of my biggest influences was Shawn Michaels. How does (my dad) take it? He’s doesn’t take it good-naturedly. He has an ego the size of the state he came from. He feels he should be listened to. A funny story: The night my dad went into the Hall of Fame, he was the last one to speak, and one of the production people said the show was short, then told my dad: ‘Dusty, you can talk as long as you want.’ My brother said, ‘Why are you up last? Who did you ever beat?’ My dad turned and said: ‘Everybody out on that stage, boy!’ When he has that WWE marquee, he turns it on.”
