Why Zack Ryder was written off WWE RAW?

As seen on Monday’s RAW Supershow, WWE apparently wrote Zack Ryder out of the storylines for the time being. There had been talk for weeks of keeping Ryder off TV for some time.

While this isn’t confirmed, there are now rumblings that Ryder is away filming a movie or some kind of program, possibly for the WWE Network.

WWE SmackDown!:

Booker T started off the show by interviewing Mark Henry, who said he was going to end Randy Orton’s career. Henry said Orton isn’t going to beat him just like Great Khali won’t beat him tonight.

1. Mark Henry beat The Great Khali. Henry won with the World’s Strongest Slam. Henry attacked Khali after the match with a chair. He put Khali’s foot inside the chair and smashed it like he did with Kane and Big Show.

2. Jack Swagger (w/Dolph Ziggler, Vickie Guerrero) beat Evan Bourne (w/Kofi Kingston). Swagger won after Vickie pushed Bourne off the top rope. Swagger followed up with the ankle lock and got the win.

3. Sin Cara beat Heath Slater. Sin Cara won with the Swanton Bomb. Post match, the other Sin Cara appeared on the Tron and cut a promo in Spanish. He took his mask off to reveal a new black mask and black outfit. He said this Sunday we will find out who is supposed to be Sin Cara.

Backstage, John Laurinaitis talked with the group of wrestlers who plan on suing. They all agreed to take action against Triple H this Monday.

4. Kelly Kelly beat Natalya (w/Beth Phoenix). Kelly Kelly won with a roll up. After the match, Beth hit the Glam Slam on Kelly Kelly. Natalya put her in a submission maneuver as Beth cut a promo.

Cody Rhodes cut a promo about Randy Orton’s actions from last week and how WWE took no action. He was not happy about defending his title against Sheamus tonight.

5. Sheamus beat Cody Rhodes via disqualification. Christian came in and jumped Sheamus for the DQ. After the match, Christian hit the Killswitch on Sheamus.

6. Zack Ryder beat JTG. Ryder won with the Rough Ryder.
Backstage, Triple H confronted John Laurinaitis about the meeting he had with the disgruntled superstars. Laurinaitis said he was loyal to Triple H.

They ran down the card for HIAC. Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara was one of the matches listed.

7. Randy Orton fought Christian to a double countout. After the match, Orton tried to beat up Christian. Cody came out and attacked Orton. Sheamus came and cleared the ring and chased Christian to the back. Henry then came out to attack Orton and hit the World’s Strongest Slam. Henry went to get a chair, but when he got back in the ring Orton hit him with an RKO.

Dark Match
1. Randy Orton beat Mark Henry via DQ. Christian and Dolph Ziggler came out to beat up Orton. Orton ended up disposing of both of them with RKO’s as Henry headed to the back.

Dolph Ziggler has stated on Twitter that he suffered a “hairline mandibular fracture” of his jaw from Hugh Jackman’s punch on RAW.

Ziggler said he will be wearing a mouth guard while it heels and will not miss any matches.

– Chris Jericho wrote the following on Twitter this week after CM Punk mentioned him on RAW: “Everyone is so excited that @CMPunk mentioned me on Raw. Newsflash…I don’t give a shit. Mind ur own business and stop rippin me off Punk.”

– Evan Bourne, Zack Ryder, Santino Marella and David Otunga were all trending on Twitter Monday night during RAW.

– The t-shirt that Jerry Lawler was wearing on Monday night’s RAW is apparently his new WWE t-shirt, the Hall of Famer’s first in 19 years.

– The Miz will be in attendance for the Teen Choice Awards from Los Angeles on August 7th. The Rock is up for Best Male Actor in an Action movie for Fast 5.

Justin Gabriel’s babyface turn, Ryder’s new title

– As seen earlier this week, Zack Ryder debuted a new Internet Championship belt on his YouTube show. The belt was custom made by Wildcat Belts out of Pennsylvania. They have also done the WWE United States Title and the belt that was used on Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling, as well as several independent wrestling belts.

– WWE continued Justin Gabriel’s babyface turn on SmackDown! this past Friday with video packages of Gabriel with fans during WWE’s recent tour of South Africa, where he is from. For those wondering, Gabriel is still dating WWE Diva Kelly Kelly in real-life.

Piper Praises Punk, Foley’s WWE Return?, Ryder-WWE

– WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper recently did an interview with The Post & Courier where he commented on CM Punk: “He says what he felt. Imagine if we had people writing them (promos) back in the day. C.M. Punk has possibly struck a chord that maybe things have gotten mundane. I’m really proud of Punk. It’s great what he did, and good for them for letting him go with it.”

– Mick Foley tweeted the following on Saturday: “Thanks to everyone who has shared ideas or hopes for my return to @WWE. I’m sure I’ll do something with them, somewhere, at some time.”

– Zack Ryder has been teaming with Alex Riley at the weekend RAW live events. They lost to The Miz and R-Truth at Saturday’s show in Rockford, Illinois. Truth and Miz cut a promo before the match talking about their plans to take down the Triple H-led conspiracy.

– CM Punk and John Cena wrestled again at the Rockford show, going to a No Contest after Truth and The Miz interfered. Cena and Punk hit their finishers on the two before ending the show with a staredown, each with their own WWE Title belt.

Zack Ryder defends ‘Internet’ title at WWE live event

Zack Ryder was announced as the WWE Internet Champion at today’s RAW live event in Melbourne, Australia and had a replica belt with him that he successfully defended against Primo.
This looks to be a way to get Ryder on television or even RAW more. It’s also a great way for WWE to promote social media. We’ll keep you posted on what the future plans for the title are. Stay tuned.

Zack Ryder recently spoke with Newsday, here are the highlights…

On starting Z! True Long Island Story: “What happened was that about three months ago I was sick of just not being on TV, sick of just sitting in the background on the sidelines. So I created my opportunity. I created my own Youtube account. My parents got me a Flipcam for Christmas. And I started to make my own shows. And 16 episodes later, more than a million views, it’s starting to pick up… All my days off is basically doing that show. It’s thinking of things and messing around with my friends. They’ll help me film stuff, like the Superstars General Manager—just things to create controversy in a funny, light hearted way… I think I had no creative output before, so they really didn’t know who I was. I had a couple matches here and there, but I never really had a chance to show who I really was, my personality and show how charismatic I was. Now this show has taken off. Guys like John Cena, The Miz, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Chris Jericho are all praising me on Twitter and stuff like that. I wrote the bonus forward to Chris Jericho’s book. It’s just unbelievable. I think everyone is starting to notice.”

Does He Get Heat Over The Show?: “At first, I was afraid too. I thought, ‘Am I going to get in trouble?’ But I’m not trying to cause any problems. I just want to get my name out there and create my own opportunity, and make some money for the company and for myself. Now they’re really getting behind it. Like you said, there are signs every single week. My T-Shirts are selling out, and I’m not even on television. It’s unheard of. So, I think they have to get behind it.… As far as I know, I haven’t been punished. But before I started the Youtube show, I was at the bottom of the card—the bottom. How much worse of a position could I have dropped to, you know? So it had to go up. That was my mind set. I was just sick of being at the bottom, knowing I could be so much more. It was all or nothing, basically.”

On His Frustrations: “I guess I am grateful that I have a job in WWE, but that my plan my whole life. So, it’s kind of expected for me. So I’m not satisfied with my spot on the card. I definitely want to move up. And that’s what I’m going to do. Or at least I’m going to try my best and go out swinging. I’m not going to just sit back and say, ‘Oh, I should have done that,’ or ‘I should have done this.’ When my time comes to an end, I know I’ll have no regrets… I’ve been under contract for five years. I’ve been on television for four. So that’s a pretty long time. So many people come and go in four years. But I have all the time in the world. I’m only 26. I’m one of the youngest guys on the roster. I’m not going to stop until everyone in this world knows who Zack Ryder is.”

On Creating His Character: “It was way before The Jersey Shore. I was with Curt Hawkins as the Edge Heads—a long haired blonde kid. And I needed a change. I needed something different. So I just took my real personality, turned the volume way up, cut the hair, went to all the clubs on Long Island, like GLO, and fist pumped with all my broskies until I finally found who I really was, and portrayed it to the world, throwing up the ‘LI’ hand signal. And ‘Woo-woo-woo’ is taking over… I’m definitely not mocking Long Island in any way, shape or form. I love where I’m from. I love Long Island. It’s supposed to be showing the world about Long Island. I’m walking out there throwing up the ‘LI’ hand signal. Everything’s Long Island. It’s showing it off. It’s not mocking it in any way. So I hope no one feels that way. If they do–Oh well. I’ll send them a T-Shirt.’

On Being Trained By Mikey Whipreck At Long Island’s New York Wrestling Connection: “I wanted to be a wrestler my entire life, so right out of high school I found NYWC, which is in Deer Park. And, Mikey Whipreck, from the original ECW, was the trainer. And I just learned all the basics, learned everything I needed to know. Myself, Curt Hawkins, Trent Baretta —We’re all the WWE and we all came out of that school. So it’s definitely a good place to learn the ropes, so to speak… (Whipreck) taught us everything from headlocks to paying your taxes. He knew everything. And he was the perfect teacher because he actually experienced it, as opposed to other people who don’t know anything and are training people and are basically stealing people’s money.”

Snooki Says She’s Done With Wrestling – Details

Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi told TMZ.com during an impromptu interview that her wrestling career is over. She said she has way too much going on in her life to focus on WWE. This is a complete turn from her earlier comments where she said she wanted to become a full-time WWE Diva following The Jersey Shore.

Polizzi won her debut match at WrestleMania XXVII Sunday, defeating Michelle McCool following a series of aerobatic maneuvers.

– Mark Henry threw out the first pitch at last night’s Atlanta Braves game. Eve and Melina said “play ball” together to open the game and John Morrison was a special co-captain.

– Zack Ryder announced on Twitter that WWEShop.com will begin selling headbands bearing his insignia soon. “The Long-Island Iced-Z” has pushed WWE to manufacture more Ryder merchandise.

– Reunited for the first time in nearly a decade, Edge and Christian used their veteran skills to achieve victory over Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay on SmackDown!. “Captain Charisma” took to Twitter to comment on the reunion.
